Leaks and 'lectrics

Belle Dame' hit the streets on Friday just to get parked on Saturday. Turns out that my Harbor Freight teflon tape doesn't stand up to gasoline too good. Then, to top that off, my weld job on the petcock bung had a pinhole. I gooped the petcock threads with "Seal All" and patched the pinhole with "JB Weld". The gas now remains in the tank.

Update: Correction to above, The last sentence should read "The gas stays in the tank longer than before." Went home from work yesterday and found more wrinkle finish. Unfortunately that indicates a leak. I guess I have one more tiny pinhole. I shall resort to the application of a little more JB Weld around the rest of the welds. I will then cross my fingers and hope for the best. The Bash is only 30 days from today. I would prefer to not show up on a flaming chopper.

I also made a wee mistake when I wired the bitch. I wired the regulator output to the wrong side of the on/off switch, so turning off the switch doesn't kill the engine. I just have to move one wire to the other side of the switch and I'm golden. What a dumb ass..... I am after all a life long sparktrician.
